The Open Road

So, Johnny 5 (my trusty car) and I headed out on our first road trip together in May. Just us, the open road, and a steady supply of Diet Coke. I needed to be in Los Angeles for work and decided to drive instead of fly this year. It was a good choice. I left on Saturday, spent a night and did some shopping at the outlets near Barstow, and then met up with Erin (my awesome co-worker/friend) and Kristine (our fantastic print rep from GAC) on Sunday in Pasadena. On Monday we got to work and finished up late Thursday night.

On Friday, Erin and I decided to end a long and exhausting four-day stint at the press with a day at the happiest place on earth. Man, was it ever a fun treat. I love that place. I just don't understand people that don't. They're weird.

I dropped Erin at the airport on Saturday and then headed to beach for a few days. For years my family has vacationed in the city of Dana Point and since I'm really familiar with the area I decided to head there for a little relaxation. I stayed in San Clemente (the city just south of Dana Point) at The Beachcomber Motel. It was right on the ocean by the San Clemente Pier. It was beautiful. And quiet. And relaxing. And perfect. And since May is considered off-season the place wasn't very busy and I had the beach to myself. Literally. Basically I didn't do anything but sit at the beach and drink in both the warm sun and salty breeze. Only once did I venture out and that was to do an afternoon session at the Los Angeles Temple. And it only added to the relaxation of the trip. Went in feeling good. Came out feeling even better. After a few days I headed back home to Utah feeling much more friendly towards the world. Me thinks I'll do this trip the exact same way next year.

I am so jealous! Sounds like such a great relaxing vacation. The beach is just perfect, and to top it off with a trip to Disneyland?!? Awesome! Glad you had a fantastic time! I would have found it hard to come back here to Utah where those two things don't exist! :)
