Sydney: Friday

Friday afternoon I had a few free hours and decided to just wander around Sydney. I love that about cities, where taking a walk is entertainment enough. I started at the Sydney Opera House, passed through Circular Quay, and up into The Rocks and Sydney Harbour Bridge area. I know what you're thinking. It's part of the same route I took on Sunday. But I couldn't help it. When you come to Sydney, you have to see the Opera House, right?

And I'm totally in love with The Rocks. I admit it. I love the history, the old buildings, the eclectic shops, the artistic people, just the whole vibe of the area. And this time around I covered a lot more ground and took a lot more pictures. (Jenni, you would have loved it. Remember our trip to San Francisco? It was like that.) I walked street after street, just taking it all in, until I was completely drenched from the rain and totally lost. In a good way.

Friday night I hung out with Cate from the Australian Stampin' Up! office. During our conversation at lunch on Wednesday, I realized that she was LDS. I had wanted to go to the temple but couldn't figure out an economical way to get out there, as it would have been a pretty hefty cab fare. So when she mentioned that the single adults in the area where doing a session Friday night, I jumped at the chance to tag along. Dedicated in 1984 by President Gordon B. Hinckley, the Sydney Australia Temple was the first one built in the country. It's a small temple situated amongst award-winning landscaping with huge eucalyptus trees that perpetuate beauty and color year round. I had an awesome time with Cate and she was nice enough to drive me all the way back to the city afterwards. Bless her.

More to come . . .

Sigh.

There's always two years from now, right?
