Press Check

I was on press in Los Angeles again this past week. I had a great time. Erin came with me and Joellyn joined us on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a nice break from the office and the catalogs couldn't have printed better.

My room at The Langham. The last time I stayed here it was
still the Pasadena Ritz Carlton. The only noticeable different was
the lack of a fruit plate in my room . . .

Turn-down service at The Langham. Gotta love those little chocolates and,
did I read that right, it's gonna be 78 degrees tomorrow? Beautiful!

The Los Angeles plant. We spent most of our week there printing both
the Spring-Summer Idea Book & Catalog and the Spanish Supplement.

Erin using the paper-sucker-upper at the Los Angeles plant. No, I'm sure
that's NOT the official name but that's what it does. Tony, the night pressman,
was nice enough to let us participate in this way sweet paper recycling
system they have there. That Tony is one cool dude.

The Orange County plant. We spent part of Tuesday
down there printing the cover of the catalog.

We ended up getting done earlier than we expected so I picked up an economy
rental car. The valet at The Langham had a good laugh when I pulled up beside
a Mustang GT and a mint-condition 1966 Corvette. Having little
dignity left, I checked out and drove down the coast for a couple of days.

That bright light? That's my shinning personality . . .

Suffice it to say, I would have gotten completely lost
were it not for my little friend named Garmin.

I ended up staying a couple of nights in Dana Point, a place
my family has stayed during the summer for many years.
My parents arrived on Friday and we plan to meet up with
Matt, Jenni, Brandon, Luke, and Trevor on Sunday.

Wow, honey. You took some awesome pictures of "our" beach. The last night we were there, Dad and I spent at Doheney, listening to the waves crashing. What is it about the ocean that is so calming that it seems to wash away troubles or just make one grateful for the beauty of the earth? Sunday night there were about 8-10 bonfires. We could smell the wood from our balcony. Heaven.
